Wikipedia experienced a DDoS attack due to which it was down in the UK and Europe, and a number of places in the middle east on Friday evening.
Users in Germany were trying to access Wikipedia faced an error message and frustration. The online encyclopedia was paralyzed by a “massive and widespread” DDoS attack.
A similar attack affected the NHS a few years ago.

Later Friday evening, Wikipedia’s main account tweeted that it was “continuing to work on restoring access.”

Wikipedia recovered shortly before midnight before going offline again early Saturday.
